How Can You Add More Healthy Fats To Your Diet?
How can you add more healthy fats to your diet?
One of the recommended ways to add healthy fats to your diet is to replace the cooking oils with healthy versions. Refined oils that are generally used for cooking or frying are loaded with free radicals. Refined oils that we generally use like corn oil and soybean oil can be replaced with olive oil that is rich in antioxidants. You can use olive oil for sautéing salads, soups, and vegetables. You can also use olive oil in cooking where heat is not required. You can dress your salads with olive oil or just drizzle it over cooked rice or quinoa for better flavor and texture.
Munch on nuts
When you have to travel always and do not find time to prepare healthy snacks at home, munching on nuts is a great alternative to general snacks. Raw nuts are very convenient to munch on as snacks. They need not be refrigerated and can be stored in air-tight containers to keep them fresh and crunchy. Raw nuts like walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and pistachios are healthy and can be had anywhere and at any time. Just have it in a small portion say a ¼ cup during your snacking time.
Boost your smoothies
When you prepare smoothies include chia seeds or flax seeds to boost the nutrition of your smoothies. They nicely gel with the smoothies and you won’t even feel the taste separately. They also contain omega 3 fatty acid which is essential for heart health. When you add these seeds to the smoothies, they keep you satiated and improve digestion as they are loaded with fiber.
Coconut oil
If you are a person who bakes your own cookies you can use coconut oil instead of butter to bake your cookies. Replacing butter with coconut oil is healthy for you in the long run. Coconut oil remains semisolid at room temperature which takes almost the form of butter. This way you may not find any difference in the ingredient and use it for your own better health. You can try using honey as an alternative to refined white sugar.
Have Mayonnaise and Guacamole
If you want to add some healthy high fats to your diet you can go for Mayonnaise or Guacamole. You can prepare them on your own or read the nutrition label for the ingredients used and learn how you can prepare them healthily at home. If you prefer to make your own Mayonnaise, use olive oil instead of refined oils.
Eat dark chocolates
Dark chocolates are fatty as well as healthy. Go for organic chocolates that contain more percentage of cocoa. They are generally rich in antioxidants. You can have them as an occasional treat but not as a main meal.
Avocados
If you want to add healthy fats to your salads, avocados serve as the best option. This is also the best alternative for olive oil salad dressing. They add nice texture and flavor to your salads. They are considered as one of the healthiest fats, so you can add them to your diet on a daily basis.
Now that you have known the healthy fat option, add them to your daily diet and be wary of portion sizes.
Great article! I also like adding in high-protein snacks like beef sticks and making sure to eat salmon. Healthy fat is so important to weight loss!
